Mr. Hite earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Jackson State University (Jackson, MS), a Master of Public of Health (MPH) in Community Health from the University Of North Texas Health Science center (Fort Worth, TX), and is currently a Doctorate of Public health (DrPH) student at the University Of Texas Houston School Of Public Health (Houston, TX), with a concentration in Community Health Practice.
His broad research interest is cancer health disparities with a special interest in prostate cancer and colorectal cancer which both disproportionately burdens African-American communities. He is interested in implementing community-based approaches for cancer education and prevention to promote informed decision-making. He is also interested in the role that spiritual and/or religious beliefs, teachings, and practices have in decision-making as it relates to cancer screening.
Currently he is a graduate research assistant at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, TX). There he is working on a project that studies ways to effectively communicate cancer risk to low literacy individuals using multimedia approaches.
