Lisa Tshuma,
Instructor - Physician Assistant Program
Family Practice/Geriatrics
My passion for eliminating health status and healthcare disparities inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field. Through my experience a family practice PA (Physician Assistant) I have personally witnessed the positive impact of preventive medicine. Yes, sometimes it’s scary to come in for that annual check up. Just remember, that check up could lead to information that could save your life!
I have observed, in my life and practice, that information alone seldom changes behavior. I am excited to be a part of More Than A Picnic program because it enables families to make informed decisions and implement plans that can positively influence not only how long they live, but the quality of those years as well. I truly believe More Than A Picnic provides support and guidance necessary to change behaviors that will reduce cancer disparities for my new neighbors, Texans. I hope I have the opportunity to get to meet your family as we strive together through More Than A Picnic for positive lifestyle change.
Before pursing her PA education Ms. Tshuma worked as an HIV educator and counselor in diverse communities for over 8 years.
