Patti Pagels, MPAS, PA-C has been a Physician Assistant (PA) in academic medicine for 16 years. Her expertise lies in cultural competency education for health care providers. She has lectured nationally on topics related to pediatrics to include childhood obesity and its relationship to ethnicity and health care disparities. In addition she is interested in health literacy from both the perspective of the healthcare provider and the patient.
Currently, she is an assistant professor and Director of Community Outreach for the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern. As part of her responsibilities she serves as the Medical Director for Union Gospel Mission in Dallas serving approximately 400 homeless men, women and children and co-Medical Director of North Dallas Shared Ministries serving primarily Spanish speaking families.
